Smoked Salmon Picnic

Now that the weather is finally nice, all I want to do is ride out on our motorcycles and so we’ve been going to Whistler for dinner and sometimes stopping to eat by the side of the road. I was worried that the quality of the food would deteriorate as we find ourselves farther and farther afield this summer but this weekend we managed to get in quite a decadent little picnic.

Remember last year when I went fishing? Well, I took one of them to Yoshi’s Salmon Smokehouse a couple of weeks ago. My friend Jules thinks that she’ll be greeted in heaven by an Angelina Jolie made of quince paste. That may be true, but I am also pretty sure it’s going to smell like the inside of Yoshi’s. I think I started drooling almost immediately but unfortunately I had to wait a couple of weeks before picking up my fish.

But as soon as it was thawed we took it up to Porteau Cove with some black Russian rye bread, capers and red onion and a bit of viogner and watched the sun set. Welcome summer!

Yoshi’s Salmon Smokehouse is at 130 Garden Avenue in North Vancouver.
